In Finland schools now prefer typing classes to calligraphy. Soon young Finns will forget that lined paper was not a fairytale or a part of a postcard but an actual thing in the school life.

Instead of working on calligraphy government chose in favor of computer knowledge as for more popular skill. Starting with typing classes was an obvious decision here.

Ever since 1986 Finns had troubles with handwriting due to their move from old-Swedish derived handwriting style to a more modern one which resulted in many letters looking alike in joined-up handwriting. That is why starting from 2016 kids will resort to print handwriting and spend more time at practicing typing.
