The Washington Times reports that the Landmark Legal Foundation accuses the National Education Association of concealing its use of millions of dollars in tax-exempt teachers’ dues and fees for political activities. The complaint said that the funds were used primarily for Democratic candidates and causes.
If these allegations are true, the actions violate a federal law that requires labor unions to report their revenues and expenditures annually to the Labor Department. As a result, the union and its leaders could be held liable for substantial civil and criminal penalties for violating the labor law.
