Based on a the Elementary Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, and High School Tests of Achievement and Proficiency, reading and math scores for Chicago Public Schools hit their highest levels since Mayor Daley took over the city’s schools in 1995. according to an article in the Chicago Sun Times.
The better scores are attributed to better first-day attendance, a new reading initiative and 50,000 more students in after-school programs.
