A story in the Washington Post reports that the number of children with immigrant parents has risen by a third over the last seven years. The information is based on a report released by the Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family Statistics (childstats.gov). According ot the report, this trend has potentially serious implications for health and education policy. Children that come from first generation families are much more likely to live below the poverty line and have other risk factors for ill health and poor educational development.
